Chatty Saturday: Blogging Breaks & Consistency

I was just thinking about the fact that I haven't blogged in about three weeks and that I should feel guilty, but I don't. I simply am not a consistent blogger and I used to feel bad about that. I don't anymore.

This is my blog, and I blog first and foremost for myself. The fact that other people read, comment and follow my blog is a wonderful bonus of this little hobby of mine and one I really appreciate. But it is a hobby, and just like my other hobbies, I can go days and weeks without doing or even thinking about it. Usually when I stop, it is because there are other things happening in my life, and so I step back from the things I can; things I know won't fall apart if I step away for awhile. That or I just plain don't feel like it, and I get back to it when I do feel like it. Simples.

There are so many other fabulous blogs out there publishing lots of great posts, that I am sure nobody misses my posts when I am on one of my impromptu hiatuses. And if you do, then thank you, you lovely, lovely person.

Do you think that I am a terrible blogger who should be banned from the blogosphere?
Do you take impromptu hiatuses? Only planned ones? Never taken a break?
What do you feel about blogging consistency? Do you care if bloggers post on a regular schedule or not?

This GIF has nothing to do with anything in this post. I just like it ;-)

  1. I try to post at least 5 days a week, the goal is everyday. I haven't met that goal in quite a while. I think everyone blogs different. It sporadic posts work for you, then great.

  2. You only need to please yourself with your blogging, so as long as you're happy with how often you post then that's fine! This should be something that makes you happy, not stressed!

  3. I think blogging is supposed to be a hobby anyway, so you should post if it feels right. If you need a break or if you want to post just when you feel like it, then that's ok, because it is still fun for you. Personally I'm trying to stick to a schedule of 5-6 posts per week, maybe less if I really have nothing to post or more if I am inspired. I just know that if I ever stop completely it would be hard for me to pick it back up.

  4. You are not a terrible blogger!! I take unplanned breaks ALOT!! And I actually do feel bad for not posting and not letting anyone know about it... but then I get over it and come back to it when I'm ready :)

  5. I've blogged pretty consistently for the past three plus years, tho the first year was a very light blogging year. Luckily I'm at the point where I pre schedule posts so it's kind of like I can take a week off if I want. One time I took practically a whole month off during the holidays and I think that's normal for some bloggers. Yeas you totally need to blog how you want so it doesn't become a chore!

  6. Posting when you want to post is key. Don't get overwhelmed! I try to post at least 3 times a week, but I also have a stockpile of posts so if something comes up on a weekend I don't stress too much about not working ahead.
