A weekly meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey
It was with the help of these little beauties that I finally got out of my reading slump.
Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness is the first book I'm reading from my year two university reading list, it's for my Modernism module (Ugh).

WHAT I AM CURRENTLY READING:

For something fun to read I have Captain America: Winter Soldier.
WHAT I PLAN TO READ THIS WEEK:
For school:
The Way of the World by William Congreve is for my Eigthteenth Century literature module. It's a play, so shouldn't take to long to read.
Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe is for my Empire and After module, it is also on my "must read in my lifetime" reading list and I am quite looking forward to it.
For Fun:
It will take a lot of willpower to not just read The winner's Curse by Marie Rutkowski and Z for Zachariah by Robert C. Brien, instead of making sure I read my school texts ;-)

Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them?
What interesting reads do have planned for this week?
Oh dear. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but there has been nothing, absolutely nothing, I've hated as much as I hated Heart of Darkness. I was a little sixteen-year-old then, so maybe it would be different if I tried it today. Hope your reaction is not so strong.
ReplyDeleteHere's my It's Monday.
Oh gosh, I hope I don't find it that bad, especially considering the fact that I can't DNF it. Thanks for the heads up though ;-)
DeleteI've read both Heart of Darkness and Robinson Caruso quite some time ago now. Your other selections are new to me.
ReplyDeleteRead on!

What did you think of them Shelley?
DeleteHappy reading.
I admire folks who can read for pleasure while going to school. I was never good at that. Z for Zachariah has been on my list for quite some time. I hope you enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteIf I couldn't read for pleasure I would go crazy.
DeleteHave a great week.
The Winner's Curse was good. I haven't read any of the others. I tend to avoid Classics if I can. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYeah I am looking forward to reading The Winner's Curse. I don't mind reading classics but ones I choose to read ;-)
DeleteHave a lovely week Kathy.
Oh, Saga!!! I love Brian K Vaughn's stuff, have you read Y the Last Man?
ReplyDeleteHere's my list:

DeleteHave a great week Wendi.
I want to read The Winner's Curse so much! Hope you get to everything you need to read, as well as what you want to read this week.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Monday post
Thanks Lisa :-)
DeleteI was actually really surprised by how much I enjoyed Heart of Darkness. I was expecting to hate it because racism and imperialism, but I found that both of them were, for the time, not too bad and Conrad was actually, in his own way, quite progressive. And the prose somehow really worked for me. I hope you make it through it without hating it :)
ReplyDeleteJuli @ Universe in Words
I just finished it and I didn't hate but I didn't really like it that much either.
DeleteHave a great week Juli.
