I'm back! You may or may not have noticed that I have not posted or commented in about a month. I was in a major reading slump that lead to a blogging slump, but that is all in the past - on to the future.
I have almost finished my first year of university, I would have finished and have passed with a great grade, if I had not failed that one exam that is going to bring my overall grade down, :,-( I have to re-sit it next month and it will be capped at a D- no matter how great I may do. Oh well, it's only the first year and the grades don't count to the overall degree, but I now know that I won't be able to coast next year and that I will actually have to work my ass off.
I had a very interesting day out in London, interesting as in I spent nearly the whole day travelling. Me and my friend had matinee tickets for Star Trek Live and had planned to do the touristy thing in the morning before the show. Well, we did get to see a lot of London but none of it that we planned, and most of it was what we saw from the wrong buses and down in the tube. The show started at 2:30 and we turned up at 4:15 and so only caught the last hour. That last hour was fantastic, it was my first time seeing a live orchestra and it was so beautiful I almost cried. I will definitely be going to see this again if it comes back and I won't be booking it on a Saturday, especially one on which a major rugby final is being hosted in London or when about three tube lines are closed for repairs.
Yesterday I went to see a local production of Macbeth and it was absolutely freaking fantastic. It was so incredibly well acted, I was blown away. It was performed and produced by my university's BA Acting students and if I don't see any of their names attached to something bigger in the future I will be surprised.
I only saw one movie in the last month and that was X-Men: Days of Future Past, and while I did really enjoy it, I felt that something was off or missing and I can't quite put my finger on what. I also didn't like how Pure Evil it made Erik, I just didn't see his motivation for his actions, unlike in the past movies in which you could see where he was coming from. Maybe another viewing will clear up any misgivings I have, I hope so because I love this franchise.

I like all your comic picks, especially the Hawkeye and Cap/ Avengers. I've been reviewing some of the Winter Soldier comics... And I agree about Erik- he just seemed way too ruthless in this one. Trying to kill Mystique- I just didn't get that.

I just saw Captain America: Winter Soldier today in our second run theatre. I was asking my husband all these burning questions about Cap and Bucky. He's read all the comics.

Sorry to hear about your exam, and I wish you the best of luck with the re-take! I had a tough first semester in college (more years ago than I want to admit) and you can get past it, so don't feel disheartened.

Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops is a very small book which makes you question the intelligence of the general (non-reading) population. I think the whole time I was reading it I was shaking my head and silenty tsk-ing.

I'm sorry to hear that about your exam but I'm sure you'll ace it this time. Don't worry you will see with years your grades will grow and you'll get more comfortable with everything. Trust me, I don't want to leave it now. xD I'm having Shakespeare this semester and we read majority of his plays :) I wish I could see them on stage. Maybe one day. Great post :)
